Storehouse Issue 19 asked featured artists to consider and reflect on the processes behind their work. My series ‘Studies in Still Life and Landscape’ (2017) was accompanied by a text which explored these ideas. The text reads as follows;

“The Still Life and the Landscape are two of the most traditional genres practiced in classical art. Whilst the work remains contemporary, it has been inspired by various 17th century painters who practised these styles upon canvas.

Combining modern photographical processes with antiquated styles, the work raise questions on the authenticity and reality that a photograph presents. The compositions are soft and romantic but exploratory at their heart, looking at the commonalities and boundaries between the fine arts and photography, resulting in a visual style that floats somewhere in-between both practices.”⁣⁣
