Imagery from my series ‘Studies in Still Life and Landscape’ (2017) is featured within the ninth issue of BAIT Magazine; a termly publication founded by Amy Baxter in response to the Cambridge money-burning scandal. BAIT Magazine discusses controversial social issues through opinion pieces, art, photography and poetry. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, BAIT’s ninth issue ‘Online’ was originally released as a digital issue in June but eventually made its way to print in October.

My project ‘Studies in Still Life and Landscape’ looks at the commonalities and boundaries between the fine arts and photography, which results in a visual style that floats somewhere in-between both practices. More from this series is available here on my website.

The images printed within the magazine are accompanied by a short text on the project which reads;

‘The Still Life and the Landscape are two of the most traditional genres practiced in classical art. Whilst my own work remains contemporary, it has been inspired by various 17th century painters who practised these styles upon canvas.

The compositions are soft and romantic but exploratory at their heart. Combining modern photographical processes with antiquated styles, the work raises questions on the authenticity and reality that a photograph presents.’
